THE GIRLS
Growing up in a foodie family, sisters Linda and Kerrie Thornton couldn’t help but be obsessed about food. They love talking about it, reading about it, making it, baking it and of course eating it! Living in a house with a rambling garden full of fresh produce, their cupboards were always stocked with homemade preserves, chutney's, cakes and cordials.
It wasn’t until Linda finished her degree in Public Relations, that she realised her true passion was food. She went on to work for a corporate caterer and developed her talent for baking and pastry. Kerrie followed her love of illustration and design and became a graphic designer specialising in cosmetic packaging.
Styling their older sister’s wedding in 2003 became the launch pad of a new business venture, with requests and referrals from friends who were seeking bespoke cakes, stationery and table styling. Late 2005 saw Linda and Kerrie opening babycakes in a leafy residental street of Elwood where they are currently situated.
babycakes designers + producers is a continuation of these passions. All designs and products are created and handmade on the premises. We pride ourselves on creating beautiful products that taste as good as they look!
